Բրիտանական Daily Mail պարբերականն անդրադարձել է օգոստոսի 4-ի երեկոյան Լիբանանի մայրաքաղաք Բեյրութի նավահանգստում որոտացած հզոր պայթյունին: Պարբերականը գրում է, որ գիշերն արնաշաղախ և լացակումած բնակիչները թափառում էին դատարկված ու քանդված քաղաքի փողոցներում: 15 տարվա պատերազմի վնասներն արդեն ապշեցրել էին նրանց, բայց անգամ նրանք այսպիսի բան դեռևս չէին տեսել:

Պայթյունը դատարկել է տները, առևտրի կենտրոնները, հյուրանոցներն ու ձեռնարկություններն ամբողջ քաղաքում:

Քաղաքի օդանավակայանի տանիքի մի մասը քանդվել է: Օդանավակայանը գտնվում է դեպքի վայրից շուրջ 10 կմ հեռավորության վրա:

Բեյրութի նահանգապետ Մարվան Աբբուդի աչքերն արցունքներով են լցվել` տեսնելով դեպքի վայրը: «Բեյրութը դատարկված քաղաք է»,-ասել է նա:

Մարդիկ հուսահատ քայլել են քաղաքի փողոցներով` փնտրելով իրենց կորած հարազատներին, շատերը մինչ այժմ տեղեկություն չունեն նրանց մասին:

Լիբանանի մայրաքաղաքում փորձում են ուշքի գալ օգոստոսի 4-ի երեկոյան որոտացած աղետալի պայթյունից: Լիբանանի առողջապահության նախարարը հայտարարել է, որ վիրավորները շատ-շատ են, ըստ ընթացիկ տվյալների՝ մոտ 4000: Զոհերի թիվը մոտ 80 է, այդ թվում՝ հայեր:

«Հոսպիտալները լեփ-լեցուն են, այն մարդկանց, որոնք վիրահատական միջամտության կարիք չունեն, պետք է տեղափոխել Բեյրութի կենտրոնում գտնվող հյուրանոցներ»,- նշել է նախարարը:

Պայթյունի հարվածային ալիքն այնքան ուժեղ է եղել, որ մայրաքաղաքի որևէ հատված ավերածությունից զերծ չի մնացել, անգամ հարևան Հորդանանում 4.5 մագնիտուդ ուժգնությամբ ցնցումներ են գրանցվել:

Լիբանանի մայրաքաղաք Բեյրութը օգոստոսի 4-ի երեկոյան որոտացած հզոր պայթյունի հետևանքով աղետի գոտի է հայտարարվել, քաղաքում երկու շաբաթով՝ օգոստոսի 4-18-ը, արտակարգ դրություն կսահմանվի:

Լիբանանի Անվտանգության բարձրագույն խորհրդի արտահերթ նիստում վարչապետ Հասան Դիաբը հայտարարել է, որ աղետի մեղավորները խիստ պատասխանատվության են ենթարկվելու:

«Բացարձակապես անընդունելի է, որ վեց տարի շարունակ նավահանգստի պահեստում 2750 տոննա ամոնիումի նիտրատ է պահվել, և նավահանգստի կառավարիչների կողմից պրոֆիլակտիկ որևէ գործողություն չի իրականացվել»,- շեշտել է Դիաբը:

Բեյրությում որոտացած ավերիչ պայթյունի հետևանքով մեծ վնասներ են կրել նաև հայկական համայնքային կառույցները:

«Վնասվել են Անթիլիասի Մայր Տաճարի, Վեհարանի, հայագիտական և մանկավարժական կենտրոնների, ինչպես նաև՝ «Կիլիկիա» թանգարանի դռները, պատուհանները, ջահերը»,- ասված է կաթողիկոսարանի տարածած հաղորդագրությունում:
